Mount Vernon is available for charter in the United States and Canada being certified to operate with Amtrak and ViaRail Canada services.

Mount Vernon was built between December 1949 and June 1950 for Pullman service on the Union Pacific.

Bedrooms: 6 each with one upper and one lower bed; total 12 beds. Dividers can be retracted between pairs of bedrooms for three bedroom suites.
Bathrooms: Each bedroom has an en suite bathroom annex with toilet and sink. There is also a spacious shower compartment with marble tiled changing area, possibly one of the most spacious on a private rail car.
Kitchen: Fully-equipped stainless steel kitchen

Mount Vernon's lounge/dining area features a flexible floor plan according to the size of group. The car's entertainment system consists of a color television, DVD player, videotape player, audio CD player, and XM Satellite radio receiver played through a pair of stereo speakers at each end of the dining/lounge area.
